I've seen people use temporary tattoos on dolls and I have done it myself, but I've never seen anyone use water slide decals. I decides to try it out for myself and holy moly, these are so much better than temporary tattoos.
These don't crack when you put them on, since you simply slide it off a piece of paper. It's easy to reposition them, and they don't get all sticky. You don't have to worry about them gumming up your doll at all. They're like the eye decals for Obitsus, but better. I got a pack of 62 sheets of these for a buck on AliExpress. They also have minimal to no 'ghost edges', only on a few. The only possible downside is, because they are made for nails, they're really small. But! This is also a good thing, because it allows for finger tattoos and hand tattoos, and you can cluster a bunch of them to create unique designs!
To put them on my doll, I basically sponged on Liquitex Matte Medium on the area I wanted my tattoo, cut out the one I wanted, soaked the decal until it loosened off the paper, peeled it off the paper with tweezers, put it on my doll, and sealed it with the Matte Medium again. Brush on sealant is best for this, it provides a lot more tooth for the tattoo. I tried to put it on the spray sealant for his face tattoo, and it wouldn't stick as well as the other ones with the brush on. I would also suggest putting water on the area you want to put the decal, that way you can move it around.
I hope I just dropped some kind of beautiful bomb on this community, I haven't seen anyone do this yet.
